Class Q and QQ

Class Q and QQ are special hunting permits for Disabled Persons. It entitles the holder to hunt legal species of game from a motor vehicle during the designated hunting seasons. Qualifying conditions of permanent disability are:

1. Permanent or irreversibly physical disability that prevents ability to ambulate without use of a wheelchair, walker, crutches, one leg brace or external prosthesis above the knee, or two leg braces or external prosthesis below the knees for mobility; or
2. Multiple conditions that result in a minimum of 90 percent loss of use of a lower extremity; or
3. Lung disease to the extent that forced expiratory volume for one second when measured by spirometry is less than one liter or the arterial oxygen tension is less than 60 millimeters of mercury on room air at rest; or
4. Cardiovascular disease to the extent that functional limitations are classified in severity as class 3 or class 4, according to standards set by the American Heart Association and where ordinary physical activity causes palpitation, dyspnea or anginal pain.

A Class Q or QQ permit holder must buy a resident or nonresident Hunting License, a Senior Citizen License, or be exempt from the License requirement.

Permanently Visually Impaired (Application)

A person who is permanently visually impaired may make a formal request to the Director through application for issuance of the Special Hunting Permit for a Permanently Visually Impaired Person.

Blind

Any bona fide resident of West Virginia who is totally blind may fish without a license. A written statement or certificate from a duly licensed physician of this state certifying that the resident person is totally blind will serve in lieu of a fishing license and shall be carried at all times while he or she is fishing.
