Disabled Veterans

They must apply on forms provided by the Division of Natural Resources and first be approved by the veterans administration. Upon approval, the Division will then issue a permanent card that must be carried while hunting, trapping or fishing.

There is also another way disabled veterans can qualify for a free license. Any disabled veteran, who is a resident of West Virginia, and who, as certified to by the commissioner of motor vehicles, is eligible to be exempt from the payment of any fee on account of registration of any motor vehicle owned by such disabled veteran as provided for in section eight [§17A-10-8], article ten, chapter seventeen-a of the West Virginia Code, is permitted to hunt, trap and fish without obtaining a license. However, they must apply on forms provided by the Division of Natural Resources. Upon approval, the Division will issue a permanent card that must be carried while hunting, trapping or fishing.

Applicants holding either of the free licenses mentioned above must also purchase the following additional licenses, as required:

Stamps
N Antlerless Deer Hunting As needed
RG or RB or RM Additional Deer Hunting As needed
A1 Pistol or Revolver Hunting As needed
P Boar Hunting As needed
