RULES FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE NATIONAL HUNTING & FISHING DAY WV BIG BUCK DISPLAY, SEPTEMBER 22-23, 2007

  1. To submit a deer for the West Virginia Big Buck Display, the hunter or owner must complete the registration form on the reverse side of this page and sign the fair chase and compliance with rules certification attached and return to Mr. Keith Krantz, PO Box 67, Elkins, WV 26241, or email at keithkrantz@wvdnr.gov.
  2. All entries will be date and time stamped upon arrival and only the first 30 entries will be eligible for the event. All accepted entries will receive an acceptance letter by return mail which will also provide directions to Stonewall Jackson Lake Resort State Park and instructions regarding delivery of your trophy to the park.
  3. All deer entered for display must have been legally taken in West Virginia and must have been scored by an official Pope & Young or Boone and Crockett scorer with a minimum score of 150. A copy of an official score sheet is required with the registration form. Scorers are located at all DNR district offices.
  4. The respective hunter or owner of each trophy deer (head or antlers only) must transport or arrange transportation of his/her trophy to and from the NH&FD event at Stonewall Jackson Lake Resort State Park, Lewis County, West Virginia.
  5. Trophy deer can be delivered from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 21 and must be removed no later than 6:00 PM on Sunday, September 23, 2007.
    **** To be eligible for the exclusive drawing for prizes, each deer entered must be delivered to the display site by 9:00 AM Saturday, September 22 and remain on display until 5:00 PM Sunday, September 23, 2007.
  6. A person can enter more than one deer but they are limited to one entry into the prize drawing.
  7. The NH&FD staff will provide a display wall for exhibiting trophy deer and will provide reasonable security and protection for trophy deer on exhibit. However, neither the WV Wildlife Federation nor the WV Division of Natural Resources will assume responsibility for the damage, loss, or theft of any trophy.
  8. All participants and entries in this year’s WV Big Buck Display, will be eligible for future year’s WV Big Buck Displays, should they wish to participate.
  9. The WV Big Buck Display will require a minimum of twenty (20) entries or the exhibit will be cancelled.
  10. The West Virginia Wildlife Federation reserves the right to refuse any participants big buck entry based upon poor sportsmanship, questionable legal status, violation of fair chase, failure to complete the registration form or failure to comply with any part of the above rules.
