WANTED: OWNERS OF WV BIG BUCKS The West Virginia Wildlife Federation, the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, and Toyota are seeking hunters who own trophy white-tailed bucks that were legally taken in West Virginia with either bow or gun and have a Pope & Young or Boone and Crockett net score of 150 or greater. This is the eighth year that the West Virginia Big Buck Display has been held in conjunction with West Virginia’s Celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Days, and the fourth year we have Toyota as its primary sponsor. This year’s event is September 28-29, 2013 at Stonewall Resort State Park, in Roanoke (near Weston), Lewis County, West Virginia. This is the largest event held at a West Virginia state park and the largest outdoor event in the state. Interested hunters who have qualifying head or antler mounts should contact Gene Thorn at (304) 924-6211 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. or eugene.r.thorn@wv.gov, for additional information or a registration form. The rules and registration form can also be found by clicking the links below. Participation will be limited to the first 30 qualifying trophy entries received. As an incentive for participation, each hunter who displays their trophy deer at the two-day event will receive a door prize and four, randomly picked participants will receive substantial prizes. |
