About Canaan Valley Lodge

The revitalization and construction of the Canaan Valley Resort Lodge began in May 2012 and the structures were completed in August 2013. Decorative aspects continue in the public areas and some sleeping rooms.

The North and South wings of the new lodge are four levels with each level having 42 rooms. The configuration with includes eight suites creates a total of 160 sleeping rooms. Some guest rooms include fireplaces, balconies, ADA access, VIP suites and individual climate control.

The additions and renovations utilize 94,637 square feet of new guest room and public space that transform Canaan Lodge from a sprawling collection of detached units with exterior walkways into a grand resort hotel of great convenience and comfort for individual vacationers, skiers and groups alike. Four elevators, updated fire protection, electrical and plumbing updates, parking lot repairs, landscaping loading dock and meeting room upgrades are also part of the renovation process. The project covers approximately 3.5 acres.

The lodge rooms are decorated with colorful soft goods and case ware. “There is a comfortable retro-feeling as you enter a lodge room,” said Canaan Valley State Park Supt. Rob Gilligan. “The valley and mountain views are exceptional. Folks visiting Canaan for the first time and those who remember the original structure will be amazed.”
