The Plays are the Thing this Winter and Spring Dinner Theatre Packages at Hawks Nest State Parks

Hawks Nest State Park has long list of Dinner Theatre Packages for 2008. Dinner Theatre Packages start on Saturday nights with dinner Hawks Nests’ Rivers View Restaurant at 6 p.m. The packages include tickets, dinner and lodging.

  • January 19 & March 8- A Groovy Kind of Murder- with Karen Vuranch
The farewell concert of The Love Beads ends in a dastardly deed. Join us in the interrogation of suspects.
  • January 26 -- Stolen Moments Jazz Quartet
Members of the WV Symphony Orchestra will bring jazz with vibes, guitar, bass and drums.
  • February 2 -- The Legacy of Mary Ingles-18thCentury Living History Drama-Mary Ingles Trail Association Players
A historical drama based on the life of Mary Draper Ingles, who was captured by the Shawnee Indians during the turmoil of the French & Indian War in 1755.
  • February 16 -- Opened Mail. Featuring: Karen Vuranch & Gene Worthington
This theatrical performance gives a comic look at the art of communication via the letters of an astronaut husband and wife, nuns in a convent who are not on speaking terms, and an irreverent look at Washington.
  • February 23 -- Timothy Seaman: Dulcimer Player
Expect to be exhilarated, amused, awed, surprised, personally involved (playing an Irish bodhran or Thai frog) and enriched by real substance. Traditional, newly composed and Baroque music that reviewers have referred to as “soul to soul” and “highly lyrical.”
  • March 15 -- Acting Accordingly! Featuring: Jill Klein Rone
This combination of comedy, music, magic and juggling will bring laughter and enjoyment to all ages.
  • April 5 and Sunday Matinee April 6 with Franky Dee-Elvis Tribute Artist
His moves and voice are a “chilling” resemblance to the King – and there is a “whole lotta shakin’” going on.
  • April 19 -- Lost Cannon Bluegrass Band
Named for local legend, this band brings a blend of “ole time” and new to the stage, with a little gospel thrown into the mix.

Hawks Nest State Park is located in Ansted, W.Va., and is known nationwide for the view from the “lower park” of the New River Gorge and Hawks Nest Lake. Open year-round, Hawks Nest features a 31-room lodge, 9-hole golf course, restaurant, gift shop and interpretative programs.

“Hawks Nest is a family favorite for summer vacation and as a honeymoon destination. But our dinner theatres are becoming as popular in the winter,” according to Willa Grafton, programmer. “We try to offer a broad range of performances to create interest in visiting Hawks Nest.”
