Beech Fork State Park to Host 2007 Heron Fest October 13, 2007

Barboursville W.Va. – Beech Fork State Park near Barboursville in Wayne County is preparing for the 2007 “Heron Fest,” to be held Saturday, October 13. This fall festival, which celebrates the beautiful bird that makes Beech Fork Lake its home, offers free fun and entertainment for the entire family. Music, magic, arts and crafts, food, hayrides, boat rides, and activities for kids of all ages will begin at 11 a.m. and continue throughout the day until 7 p.m. Other events will include a camper display by Burdette’s Camper Sales, a camper decorating contests for guests staying in the park campground, the Division of Natural Resources “Wall of Shame” display of illegally killed wildlife, bear trap and snare demonstrations, and Smokey Bear. Bluegrass and gospel music groups will come to the Beech Fork stage throughout the day, and story tellers will end the day at a campfire circle at 7 p.m.

Beech Fork State Park offers 3,144 acres of some of the best recreation experience in the southwestern section of West Virginia. Beech Fork is located 12 miles south of Huntington and Barboursville and is just a short drive from Charleston, Cincinnati and Lexington.
