Panther State Forest Swimming Pool Open After Delay

A circulation pump motor problem at the Panther State Forest swimming pool has been repaired and the pool is now open to the public for the summer swimming season, according to Panther SF Asst. Supt. Mike Foster. The pool was scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend, but the opening was delayed until a new pump motor could be ordered, delivered and installed.

Located in the rugged hills of McDowell County near West Virginia's southern border with Virginia and Kentucky, Panther State Forest offers a small campground in heavily wooded surroundings. Hiking trails to scenic overlooks, trout fishing, picnicking, swimming and hunting are featured at the forest.
