Harvest Day at Cass Scenic Railroad State Park September 30, 2006

Cass, W.Va.-The public is invited to view the beauty of fall as Cass Scenic Railroad State Park in Pocahontas County hosts Harvest Day on September 30, 2006.

This event starts at 8 a.m. and includes many free activities throughout the day, such as antique farm utility engine demonstrations, lumber mill and locomotive shop tours, interpretive town walks, an informal "bring your instrument" traditional picking jam session, a living history presentation of Pearl S. Buck, Appalachian dance, storytelling, and live music by Jim-N-I. The event's "Whistle Blow" gives folks a rare chance to blow the whistle on an authentic steam locomotive. A Harvest Special dinner train departs the depot at 5 p.m., which includes turkey and fixings with live bluegrass music by Allegheny Outback. All of this is in addition to the park's regular excursion trains during the morning and afternoon.

The rate for the evening train with dinner and entertainment is $32 for adults, $22 for children and $12 for children under 5. A regular excursion to Whittaker Station is $17 for adults and $12 for children while regular excursions to Bald Knob are $22 for adults and $15 children.
