Lost River State Park Accepting Applications

For Summer Lifeguards

 

MATHIAS, W.Va. - Applications are being accepted for summer lifeguards at Lost River State Park in Hardy County , according to Park Superintendent Dee Taylor.

 

  “There is a critical need to fill these positions for the summer season,” Taylor says.  “These positions are great for people who enjoy working with others in a natural scenic environment.”

 

  The employment period usually runs from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. The position requires the supervision of swimming pool area, the prevention of accidents and rescue of swimmers, admission collection fees, maintenance of bathhouse and pool grounds and the enforcement of pool regulations. Skills desired for this position include a minimum of Basic Lifeguarding for pool-side assignments, full lifeguard training for beach lifeguarding as certified by the Red Cross and a current standard First Aid card. Other lifeguarding certification, such as Boy Scouts of America and YMCA will be considered for this job. Limited housing will be available.
