Swimming Facilities Opening at WV State Parks May 27

Swimming facilities in many West Virginia state parks will be open to the public on Saturday, May 27. Their opening marks the unofficial beginning of the summer season. State park lodge and cabin/cottage guests swim free of charge. Campground guests and other visitors may purchase daily admission tickets, two-day family passes, books of 10 tickets or season passes.

Most swimming areas are open seven days a week until Labor Day and will operate from late morning to late afternoon. Some facilities may be closed on Monday and may operate at reduced hours the first two weeks in June. Please call individual areas for specific rates and opening and closing times. All state park swimming areas are supervised by certified lifeguards during operated hours.

"From traditional swimming pools nestled in the beauty of a park setting to a dip in certain designated rivers and lakes, park guests can refresh themselves against the backdrop of this country's most beautiful scenery," says Ken Caplinger, deputy chief of the West Virginia State Parks Section of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.
