The public is invited to attend a hearing relating to the regulation of deer farming in West Virginia. The hearing will be held February 1 from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the Norman L. Fagan West Virginia State Theater at the Cultural Center on the State Capitol Complex grounds in Charleston.

Presentations and public comment will be limited to the proposed DNR-filed legislative rule for 58 CSR 64, titled Miscellaneous Permits and Licenses. This rule establishes the regulations, licensing and procedures for deer farming in West Virginia. Ten-minute presentations will be given by four speakers on behalf of the rule and four speakers against the proposed legislative rule governing deer farming.

The hearing will then be opened to public comment. Each individual will have three minutes to voice comments. Anyone wishing to speak must sign up at the theater between 1:15 p.m. and 1:55 p.m. the day of the meeting. DNR Director Frank Jezioro will serve as moderator for the hearing.

The Capitol complex can be reached by taking Exit 99 at Greenbrier Street off Interstate 64/77 in Charleston. For more information, call the Division of Natural Resources at 304-558-2771.
