An Ace at 85

Josephine Man Makes 10 th Hole In One

At Twin Falls Resort State Park

Twin Falls State Park : Clayton Wallace of Josephine , WV , hit the shot most golfers only dream about, a hole in one on November 12, 2005 . At age 85 he used a seven iron on Hole #11, a 152 yard, Par 3 hole at Twin Falls Resort. What is even more exciting, this was Wallace's tenth ace in his lifetime.

Four aces have occurred at Twin Falls , two on #11 and two on #17. The other feats were at Grandview Country Club and Beaver Creek in Raleigh county, two at the former Twin Oaks club and two in the state of Texas .

Clayton Wallace has played Twin Falls Resort for more than 12 years with a group of men known fondly as the Beckley Bunch, according to Brian Wetzel, golf professional at this southern state park. “His golfing friends include Lloyd Parker of Midway, C.O. Mills and Luther Crump of Sophia, Jim Gilchrist of Beckley and several fellows from Wyoming county area.

“He (Wallace) is one of our favorite guests at Twin Falls . He loves the game of golf and enjoys the fellowship and fun.” Wetzel also says Clayton's enthusiasm about life is contagious, and it appears to affect his golf game as he generally shoots his age or lower and often in the 70s.

Twin Falls Resort is located near Mullens WV in Wyoming County . A 4,000 acre public treasure, the course at Twin Falls is a Par 71 Championship course designed by Geoffery Cornish and expansion to 18-hole course by George Cobb. The park offers lodge and cabin accommodations, conference facilities, and full-service restaurant and one of a few courses open year-round weather permitting.
