2005 Fall Trout Stockings Begin October 11

The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources' 2005 fall trout stocking will take place during the weeks of October 11 and 17, according to Mike Shingleton of the DNR Wildlife Resources Section. Approximately 35,000 pounds of trout will be stocked during the two-week period in 26 streams and nine lakes as indicated in the 2005 fishing regulations.

“Although stream flows are extremely low, all waters will be stocked with trout as scheduled,” said Shingleton. “Because of the low, clear flows, anglers will have to use their best angling skills to be successful.”

Anglers should be aware that the Williams River Road in the Monongahela National Forest is closed in the Three Forks area. Anglers wishing to fish upstream of the road closure should use the Scenic Highway – Rt. 155 for accessing the upper Williams River .

Anglers can call the Fisherman's Hotline at (304)558-3399 or visit the web site at www.wvdnr.gov to find out which streams and lakes have been stocked each day.
