Woodrum Lake Closure

The Division of Natural Resources and the Western Conservation District announce the closing of Woodrum Lake in Jackson County and the area immediately adjacent to and including the dam, according to Bret Preston , assistant chief of the Division of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Section.

The area is closed until further notice due to hazardous conditions resulting from the draining of the lake and repairs to the water control structure conducted by the United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service. The remaining portion of the Woodrum Lake Wildlife Management Area remains open to hunting under all applicable laws and regulations.

Persons should be aware that the banks of the lake may be unstable and may present a serious and life-threatening hazard to those attempting to walk or climb on them.
