Applications for Limited Antlerless Deer Permits are Available
Deadline to Apply is August 12, 2005

Applications to hunt antlerless deer during the 2005 limited resident antlerless deer season are now available at all West Virginia hunting and fishing license agents, DNR District Offices, Elkins Operations Center and Charleston Headquarters, according to Curtis I. Taylor, Chief of the Division of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Section. Application forms may also be downloaded from the DNR web page (www.wvdnr.gov). These applications will allow for antlerless deer hunting opportunities to take place in counties, or portions thereof, where wildlife biologists have determined that a limited number of permits are necessary to manage the deer herd.

Six (6) counties, or portions thereof, Braxton, Kanawha (North of Elk River and West of Corridor G), Lincoln, Pendleton (East of the North Fork of South Branch River), Summers and Wayne (North of Route 37) and nine (9) Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) will have a limited number of Class N licenses for resident antlerless deer hunting from November 21 through December 3 on private land only, and December 5 through December 10 on public and private land. Applications must be received by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources before the close of business on August 12, 2005. The 2005 limited resident antlerless deer season will provide an opportunity for 1,350 residents to participate on selected WMAs. An additional 1,131 residents will be selected to hunt antlerless deer in counties, or portions thereof, restricted to resident hunters.

For complete information on season dates and bag limits, consult the 2005-2006 Hunting and Trapping Regulations Brochure, which will be available in mid-July at all license agents and DNR offices, or visit online now at www.wvdnr.gov and click on the cover of the regulations.
