Are You a VIPP (Very Important Parks Person)?

Are you a frequent visitor to West Virginia State Parks ? Do you enjoy the natural beauty of West Virginia State Parks? Do you attend special events held in West Virginia State Parks? If you answered "yes" to the above questions, you are invited to become a Very Important Parks Person (VIPP). This popular program was created in 1986 to recognize the special friends of West Virginia State Parks who frequent the recreational areas or support their programs.

To become a West Virginia VIPP, you must fulfill all of the following requirements and conditions:

•  First, fill out a registration form, available at all State Parks or by calling 1-800-CALL WVA.

•  Next, visit each of the 15 mandatory parks and forests, and five of the 25 elective parks and forests listed on your participation card. While visiting each one, stop by the park office, park headquarters, or front desk and have your card stamped by park personnel.

•  Finally, upon completion of the 20 required visits, sign the back of the card and mail it in to become an official VIPP. You will then receive a West Virginia State Parks VIPP jacket.

There is no limit to the number of times you may complete the program. For each additional completion, you will receive a star. Upon the second completion you will become a One Star VIPP, upon the third, a Two Star VIPP, etc. However, only one jacket will be given to each full member.

There is no time limit on completing the requirements to become a VIPP, and there is no fee. For more information about the VIPP program, please visit a state park or call 1-800-CALL WVA.
