Brigade of American Revolution Encampment

At Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park

June 17-18, 2006

 

  The Brigade of American Revolution will bring the Revolutionary War scene alive at Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park near Parkersburg, West Virginia, from June 17-18, 2006 .

 

  “During this encampment, we will offer visitors a nearly exact recreation of a variety of 18 th century demonstrations,” says Park Superintendent Donna Smith. “Visitors will not only be able to see a part of history, but will also be able to interact with soldiers and camp followers.”

 

  The weekend will include music demo, artillery demo, public scenarios, clothing and uniforms of the period and camp-field kitchens. Saturday's events will start at  11 a.m. and Sunday's events will start at 12:30 p.m.

 

  Boats going to Blennerhassett Island operate on an hourly basis on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5:30 p.m. Boats depart the island on the half-hour. The last boat leaves the island at 5:30 p.m. The round-trip cost of the boat ride is $8 for adults or $7 for children (3-12).
